A fellow photographer and friend once said that "everything up to the click of the shutter is photography and everything after the click is post-processing." That statement has always stuck with me and when I develop my coaching and training business I divided services into either "Up-to-the-Click" or "After-the-Click." The thinking, adjusting and visualization that takes place before a photographer even thinks about pressing the shutter button and the processing that takes place after the shutter has been released.
Training on camera operation, understanding exposure, capturing HDR sequences, operating a light meter and composition training would all fall under that Up-to-the-Click section. Training on Capture NX 2, processing HDR images, Photo Mechanic and Digital Workflow would all fall under the "After-the-Click" section.
I believe that quality digital images are the result of good Up-to-the-Click and After-the-Click Photographic habits.
